This course examines resource management from two perspectives: financial and economic. It provides the tools, techniques, and methodologies necessary to analyze financial data, assess economic indicators, and make informed decisions that align with local development goals.
This course will primarily delve into the decentralization of functions to local government units (LGUs) and their economic development. The first phase – The State of Decentralization in the Philippines will specifically cover relevant laws and regulations, mandated services, the current status of service delivery, financial performance, and existing service delivery gaps. The second phase, The State of Economic Development in the Philippines, will focus on the local economy, including its key drivers, opportunities, challenges, and overall status. It will also explore how LGUs can finance local economic development.
